Thee other day my friend and colleague GK explained to me how rockets work. He used to work at iokol who make the shuttle. At the simplest level they have a propellant and an igniter. e propellant is the actual fuel, but it has to have an igniter to make it work. He compared it to the knowledge faith fire and focus model we have been using to describe the nature of performance. Knowledge was the propellant and faith fire and focus were the igniters. You can have all the knowledge (the propellant) you like but without faith, fire and focus (the igniter) it won’t do anything. If you have too much propellant the rocket becomes too heavy to get into orbit, not enough propellant and it won’t have enough power to get there.
Knowledge is rarely the issue for an individual or an organization.

The question we keep posing our clients is this: “Do you have enough igniter? Do you have enough faith, fire, and focus?”

  1. Too cool! Bookmarking your blog and am going to start working through the archives as soon as I get time. Glad there’s someone out there writing about this with your attitude and honesty.

  2. Morning

Just stumbled on your blog while searching on concrete and construction. It’s a horrible situation, this economy that we all seem to sink with it with.

Anyhow, I just installed this new browser, Opera, Firefox, Mozzila, Safari and I have to figure a way to subscribe to your website here, but I get some strange message when I hit the feed button. Any Ideas?

    Bye
